okay, well my mother called this evening and was all emotional about her one day assembly.
i was shocked she brought it up, as we just do not mention the religion anymore, but lately little things keep getting said at her conventions and assemblies that seem to be making this line something she wants to cross more these days.
what she brought up, was something i had not heard mentioned on here and i wanted some insight from people who actually heard it or knew more about it.
Personally, I would ask my mother where this information is
coming from? [apply critical thinking] Because Jesus said
that neither he nor the angles nor anyone one but the Father
knew the time of the end.
Financially they would dry up and the game would be
over. Somehow, I doubt this would happen.

Dear Shelley: I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
A. Yes, for the most part I do. Why? because these are questions that
have been with me for years, and now I have the opportunity to ask
individuals without fear or reprisal from an organization such as the
Watchtower Society .
A. Again, the answer is yes. Why? because these stories really need to
be told, simply because there are emotional and psychological scars that
individuals have had to endure with, and an organization such as the Watch-
tower Bible and Tract Society cannot be allowed to get away with it.
In addition, I may pursue a documentary or movie depicting the sly insidious
nature and tactics of cults and religions.
A. Generally, I try to post my thoughts in topics which I think an individual
has put some real thought into their expressions. I would consider some
of the topics to be childish or ridiculous and the destruction of people's
lives are neither---in my opinion.

the home. Can someone recall anything like this?
There was a very nice older sister in my congregation that had many
years in the organization. Recalling her reaction to this article, she
thoroughly disagreed with the organizations position. She was soft
spoken, pleasant, and sincere. In short, a down to earth individual.
To no one's surprise she disagreed with the position because she
had a number of relatives that fell into one of the categories stated
above. Eventually, this led to her leaving the organization by dis-
associating herself.
Almost overnight, individuals in the congregation turned on her. You
would think that after 29 years they would at least be sensitive or
consoling regarding their "sister". It was one of the things about the
organization that was personally burned into my memory.
The question is why? Why do individuals in the organization turn
against such ones because of seeing things from a different perspect-
tive ?
Looking back on it now, I find now how psychotic the organization
really was.

the type of individual the "truth" attracts, what is it?
From my own point of view, the organization seems to attract "lesser"
ones. In short, individuals who may have suffered misfortunes or who
are ignorant and under educated.
What would you say? Is there a stereotypical Jehovah's Witnesses person-
ality? If so, give us a description of the kind of person that would be
attracted to the "truth."

feel the same toward religion?

exceptional grades while in school. His family outside of Jehovah's Witnesses
encouraged him to become a doctor and they were willing to pay for his college
tuition. Instead, he opted to become a pioneer and as an occupation decided
to become an office cleaner.
Many on this discussion board gave up comfortable livelihoods, education and
careers because of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. The opportunity to
go to college on a football scholarship was lost, because my beliefs that "we
are living in the time of the end" kept me busy in "theocratic activities."
How about yourself? Can you identify what you lost while being in the "truth"?
And so, that this discussion does not primarily focus on a downward spiral,
can you identify some of the positives that you acquired while being out
of the organization?
This discussion has the possibility to help out numerous individuals such as
yourself. Can you please give us some insight so that others can learn?

i have come across some old threads that make various accusations against rayfranz, but i think on the whole he seems a kind and thoughtful person.
he didn't do everything right, and he is no saint as some make out: his expulsion is a bit flatteringly called a "crisis of conscience", but he came to terms with the disorienting situation well and did a service to all involved with the witnesses by giving us a look behind the curtain.
some of the things that people hold against him it seems:.
Regardless of what some may say or think about him,
he educated me on what goes on at the Watchtower Society.
For this I am deeply grateful.

Witnesses the past comes back to haunt me. "Keep on the watch
because you do not know the day or the hour." "We should be reach-
ing out for more privileges in the congregation during this time of the
end ." "We are in the final part of the last days." These and
other similar expressions are suddenly called to mind.
Being a "good" Witness entails an individual to give up his or her
creative thought and independence. The Watchtower now does all
of the thinking for you. The thought of something "bad" will happen
if an individual does not follow through on all of the rules is period-
ically reinforced. Any individual thought or questioning of the Society
raises eyebrows within the organization and can lead to "discipline."
Since receiving the steady diet and constant drilling of the organization,
it would do me well to turn to others who have succeeded in purging
"Witness Think." So, for those of you out there who have succeeded
in deprogramming yourselves or are on the way to doing so, what advice
can you give to individuals who are still in the "Watchtower's grip."

It is very difficult for me to put on a suit.

to all of those individuals that left a comment on my last.

To all of those individuals that left a comment on my last
thread "Questions for those born or raised in the truth" there
can be nothing short of a big thank you. The comments were
interesting. They could easily be categorized as between
good and excellent with one or two as drawing inspiration.
Now, that we have left the organization it raises a question
in my mind about coping. For those of you who have "lost"
family members because of your stand how did you adjust
to the loss? Or, did you?
I left the organization after fourteen years with no family ties
and up until now I have not permanently put this behind me,
otherwise, Why would I be here? I disfellowshiped the Watch
tower Society but there is still residue lingering. Any suggest-
ions on nailing this coffin shut?
